Benson and Griffiths released by Hatters
Writing in the club’s match-day programme ahead of yesterday’s clash with Exeter City, chief executive Gary Sweet said: “At this time we also see a few players leave us too.
“Huge thanks also go to Paul Benson and Scott Griffiths who depart at the end of the season. Benno and Griff have been loyal servants to Luton, have conducted themselves in an exemplary fashion and were vital components of our promoiton success.

Benson scored 25 goals in 84 appearances for the club, and his partnership with Andre Gray helped Luton romp to the title back in 2013-14 as he notched 18 strikes during that campaign.
Meanwhile, Griffiths featured 115 times for the Hatters, scoring three goals, but hasn’t played for new boss Nathan Jones, with his last game back on December 19.
On the reasons behind their departures, Jones said: “Gary wanted to make a point in the programme as they got promoted with the club and we wish them all the best.

“He had a chance to move on, but he says no, I’m still learning, still enjoying it here, I want to keep playing for Luton, so we’re proud of that and then Scott hasn’t really featured for me.
“He’s had two in front of him in Jake Howells and Dan Potts that we felt were just more conducive to how we play, but we wish him all the best.
“I know he’s been a good servant for Luton and hasn’t quite featured since I came in, but he’s been a great kid to have around.”
