Actor who grew up in Ampthill takes on role as a friend of character Ronnie Mitchell.

A familiar face has joined the cast of BBC TV soap opera EastEnders.

Carl Ferguson, who grew up in Ampthill, is playing Lee Thompson, a former school friend of character Ronnie Mitchell.

The actor made his first appearance in a storyline involving a school reunion, and the role will see him become involved in a tangled love affair.

Carl was a student at Bedford Modern School from 1986-1997, and was a keen actor in his youth, appearing in a West End production of Les
Miserables while at junior school.

He also appeared in BBC shows The Young Chaplin and Kevin's Cousins, as well as taking lead roles in school productions of Rats, Papertown Paperchase, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Titus Andronicus and Oliver.
