Emergency crews called to help patient who crashed onto a platform.
Firefighters were called to rescue a man who had fallen off a ladder and damaged his back while renovating a house on Sunday.
Crews from Harrold, Bedford and Kempston were called to Sackville Lodge in High Street, Riseley, at 6.41pm to help paramedics move the man.
He had been working on a loft conversion in the house, which was undergoing renovation and had no upper levels, when he fell from the ladder, landing on a first-storey platform inside the building.
Firefighters and paramedics worked together to lift the man down the outside of the house using the exterior scaffolding and a basket stretcher.
He was then taken to Bedford Hospital South Wing for treatment.
Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service station commander Jamie Martin said: "The man had been doing some DIY inside the property and had fallen from a ladder onto a first-floor platform.
"There were no stairs inside the house so we worked in collaboration with the paramedics to lower the casualty to the ground using the scaffolding outside."
