Decorating firm wins award
A decorating company in Luton, which has painted some of the country's most famous restaurants, has won a top notch award for its work.

Blair Contracts, of Hibbert Street, seems to have the recipe for success after rubbing shoulders with celebrity chefs such as Aldo Zilli and Gary Rhodes while putting a coat of paint on the walls of exclusive London eateries.

W1 Brasserie in Marble Arch, the Grill Room at The Savoy Hotel, the Berkeley Hotel and Claridge's are all the work of Blair Contracts.

The company won the commercial category of the Painting and Decorating Association (PDA) Premier Trophy Awards 2008 for the quality and standard of its work on the exterior of a building in Peterborough.

Kevin Blair, who founded the company 10 years ago, said: "Only a few companies in the country could have handled this contract, and we certainly weren't the largest, so we are especially proud of the achievement."

Painters from the firm joined Kevin, 34, to collect the accolade at a prestigious ceremony at Painters Hall in London.
