OLYMPIC champion Dame Mary Peters DBE opened a new retirement home in Cannon Lane on Wednesday.
The former pentathlon gold medallist cut the ribbon at McCarthy & Stone’s Retirement Living development, Olympic Court, in Luton.
The development is a collection of one and two bedroom apartments offering people over the age of 60 continued home ownership, independence and security. They can enjoy the communal lounge and invite family and friends to stay in the guest suite.
Dame Mary, who won the gold medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics, met residents and was treated to refreshments after the ceremony.
