Guns, knives and swords seized on Luton streets
Weapons
A SHOCKING array of more than 300 weapons including swords, axes and a crossbow were seized by armed police on the streets of Bedfordshire last year.
Firearms incident officers confiscated 310 weapons between January 1 2011 and the beginning of 2012, with almost half – 147 – found on the streets of Luton.
According to figures obtained after a request under the Freedom of Information Act, 153 knives, 22 swords and a staggering 18 axes were taken from offenders during 2011.
Officers also seized 12 shotguns, three handguns, seven replica handguns and a crossbow.
A further 94 weapons, including air pistols and rifles, baseball bats, BB guns, a blank firing handgun and three toy guns were also held.
It is unclear whether charges were brought against any parties involved in each case.
But a spokesperson for Bedfordshire Police said yesterday that anyone caught with an offensive weapon is dealt with ‘robustly’.
She said: “Bedfordshire Police receives approximately 45,500 emergency calls each year and responds to all incidents where weapons are mentioned with the use of the Armed Response Unit to ensure the safety of the public, those involved in the incident and members of the emergency services.
“Reducing the number of violent offences in the county is a priority for Bedfordshire Police and anyone caught in possession of an offensive weapon is dealt with robustly.’
Between April and September 2011, serious violent crime in Bedfordshire fell by 28 per cent with 50 fewer victims.
> Police arrested a man on suspicion of possession of a bladed article after he was allegedly found with a ‘large dagger’ in his pocket in Luton.
The incident happened shortly before 7pm in Biscot Road.
An ambulance was also called to the scene.

Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 03:31 PMPaul R it is easy to play the race card when fools like you make the comments you do which are totally unprovoked. You're comments seem to be financially linked. Stop being bitter if life is hard for you. Blaming the Muslims won't make it better u low life. What is there to like about your society with scum like you in it!! Stop invading the Middle East and start paying for oil instead of robbing it and they won't need to come over here. You're uneducated and narrow minded and you need to keep your racist opinions to yourself.

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:17 AMOr maybe it's because a good portion of them are uneducated, can't speak English properly, are more concerned with popping out as many kids as possible, hate everything about our society, look and act as if they're still in the middle east and are better off on benefits than they ever would have been had they stayed in their own country... but it's easier to play the race card isn't it?

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:00 PMPaul R, is that what your problem is? Muslims?? Government figures also show there are only 2.8 million Muslims in the UK and they come from all over the world. They're not all Asians. Out of a population of 62 million that is a significant minority. Maybe its difficult for Muslims to get a job coz of narrow minded racist scum like yourself.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 08:18 PMlu4ton I don't use taxis or drugs or prostitutes, I'm not married and don't eat fast food, but don't let being totally wrong about everything stop you spouting off about it. Government figures show that 50% of Muslim men and 75% of Muslim women are unemployed. Higher than any other religious group in the UK. Third_eye, your childish ramblings are truly pathetic.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 04:20 PMPeople should be happy so many weapons have been taken off the streets of our town. Paul R must use drugs and prostitutes in order to know who runs that section in Luton. Them cheap taxis get you home when your drunk so you can go beat your wife and its the same halal chicken that dogs like you come running to eat on Friday and Saturday night. Talking of generations, what about the generation breeding for benefits and a house?? Blame that on Asians aswell.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 01:28 PMNext thing Paul R and his racist EDL cronies will be accusing the police of keeping information secret. I mean the the police talk about the seizing pistols, handguns, knives, swords etc... but HOW MANY MUSLAMIC RAY GUNS did they find? They must be hiding this information from the public!!! - Youtube MUSLAMIC RAY GUNS if you want to find out more.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 01:07 PMEurghh, what is that putrid stench emanating from this website this morning? Seems like some disgusting creature has crawled out from a dank and putrid hole somewhere and - unfortunately for visitors of his website today - left a series of gut churning deposits in the form of comments 1 and 3. This can only mean one thing, and one thing only... Paul R the Resident Racist Ringlefinch has risen again from his slumber... I smell TROLL!!!! But fear not ladies and gents, as long as you don't feed him, he will skulk away, crawling back to under a bridge. Paul R - The R stands for Ringlefinch - is an extremely low intelligence creature who likes to spout random rasict ramblings on news articles, totally unconnected with the main point of the article and completely devoid of any facts. His comments below are just an example.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 12:03 AMY2Envy Who runs the drugs and prostitution in Luton? I think you'll find that section of the community are the ones who carry weapons. They're also the ones most likely to marry their nieces and cousins, generation after generation.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 08:46 PMNever mind, you can get a cheap taxi (except for at Eid) and some nice halal chicken (if you don't mind the fact it was tortured to death.) Isn't Luton a much better place as a result of cultural "enrichment."
