Madcap presenter Mik takes on Paralympics rugby
Award-winning presenter Mik Scarlet
OUTRAGEOUS broadcaster and journalist Mik Scarlet will be appearing at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games and presenting coverage of the wheelchair rugby.
The former Putteridge High pupil – who refers to himself as ‘Luton’s most famous wheelchair-user’ – said: “It’s been absolutely crazy so far with rehearsals.
“It’s going to be a real extravaganza. I’ll be dancing and there’s going to be all manner of acrobatics and guys doing circus stuff.
“But I can’t tell you exactly what’s happening because I’ve been sworn to secrecy.”
The 46-year-old award-winning TV presenter (right) said: “As it gets closer and closer it’s becoming more and more exciting.
“It’s great talking to the volunteers – their enthusiasm is infectious to jaded old professionals like me.”
Mik is going to be doing ‘in between’ interviews. “I’ll be talking to team managers and coaches, asking them the questions the audience really wants to know . . . like how do you score tries?
“Rugby is such an exciting, high octane sport. It’s going to be presented in a very hip way with music and strobe lighting.
“I’m absolutely blown away to be part of it”.
