AT 10.45am on February 6, 1952, it was officially announced that His Majesty, King George VI, had died peacefully in his sleep at Sandringham House.

A White Rose by any other name...
THE White Rose Catering Company had been running for many years, with cafes, bakers’ shops and stalls all over Luton, before this photo was taken in June 1951.
