Jet lands safely in Nice

An easyJet plane packed with holidaymakers travelling from Luton Airport to Cagliari was forced to divert to Nice on Saturday, due to an electrical fault.

The Boeing 737, flight EZY2313, carring 137 passengers and five crew, landed safely in France, despite reports of smoke filling the cockpit.

An easyJet spokesperson said: "This was merely a precaution, not an emergency landing. Safety is easyJet's number one priority and at no point in time was the well-being of our passengers at any risk. EasyJet would like to apologise to all affected passengers."

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
