Anyone welcome to view work
Mature student Jan Drury may be retiring in the new year, but she certainly won't be putting her feet up.

Because the 59-year-old Luton grandmother, of Charlwood Road, has a bug - an art bug.

Jan, who owns Tizz Hair And Beauty salon in Brittany Court, Dunstable, started painting the salon walls a few years ago and found a new passion for creating artwork.

And, after testing her talent at evening classes, she has just aced a foundation course in art and design at Dunstable College.

The super student scooped a distinction grade for the two-year course.

And the budding artist now plans to show her work in the Artist Network Bedfordshire's open studios event from September 13.

Art enthusiasts are welcome to visit any of the open studios to view the exhibitions prepared by the artists.

Jan, who has a purpose-built shed as her studio, will be opening her doors to the public on Saturday, September 13, from 10am until 4pm, and again at the same time on September 20 and 21 and September 27 and 28.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
