Latest stages of massive widening project

Overnight lane closures have been announced by highways chiefs carrying out the massive widening project on the M1.

Lanes two, three and four on both carriageways will be closed between 10pm and 5am starting on Tuesday, July 15 for bridge works and loop cutting.

On the northbound carriageway it will mean traffic being diverted off the exit slip at J10 and returned via the entry slip.

On Thursday, July 17, southbound traffic will be diverted off the exit slip at J10 and returned via entry slip to allow lighting and bridge works between junctions 10 and nine. Lanes two and three will have closures between 10pm and 5am to allow lighting and bridge works to take place.

Other closures towards London will affect junctions eight and the M25 interchange.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
