No shortage of fun at Under the Sea themed day
Visitors to the carnival did not let two rain showers dampen their spirits.

And there was plenty of entertainment with something for all age groups.

Attractions included a wriggling reptile show, demonstrations from the Luton Higashi Karate Kai and a circus skills workshop.

There were prizes for the best floats in the annual procession.

First place went to YAWN (Young Adults With Needs) who were presented with the Yvonne Corkerton trophy and £300.

Second place went to the Bedfordshire Pathfinder Scouts who received a runners up trophy and £150.

During the event, which was held at The Green, Houghton Regis Town Council launched a public consultation for the play area and skatepark.

Town clerk Stuart Oliver said: "It went very well and there was a constant stream of people visiting the pavilion where the consultation was held."

He said: "Other years people have come to the carnival and stayed for a couple of hours, but this year visitors came and stayed for the whole day."

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
