Young learners have plenty of space to play
Downside Pre-School in Dunstable used to be based in a tiny classroom in the nearby Downside Lower School, but that was far from ideal.
Now the tiny tots – all aged between two and five – have given the thumbs up to their new premises at Downside Neighbourhood Centre in Oakwood Avenue.
Claire Washington, who chairs the pre-school's committee, said: "We had a little classroom in the lower school, but everything was crammed into the one room. Now we're in the new neighbourhood centre, we've got a nice big room and lots more room."
There are currently 44 youngsters enrolled at the pre-school, but many of them are set to start school in September, leaving spaces open to fill.
A morning and an afternoon session are held each day, and schools watchdog Ofsted has given the green light for up to 24 pre-schoolers to attend each.
