Let your hair down with Rapunzel

If you’re feeling all panto-ed out but are looking for another Christmas show to see before the big day, look no further than Rapunzel at Luton Library Theatre.

There’s no pantomime dame or ugly stepsisters, but with a live rabbit, larger-than-life characters and fantastic funky musical numbers, it’s an uproarious fun-filled show.

Following the success of last year’s show The Snow Dog, family theatre innovators Full House are back in Luton bringing the fairytale of Rapunzel to life with a fresh adaptation of the classic children’s story.

Rapunzel, played by Grace Bird, is cursed by a sorceress and trapped in a tower, but the feisty female won’t let a pesky thing like being stuck in a turret stop her from finding her prince.

In the original Brothers Grimm story, Rapunzel is the most beautiful girl in the world with long golden hair, and when the evil enchantress visits the tower she calls out to Rapunzel: “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair, so that I may climb the golden stair.”

In Full House’s version of the old tale, our heroine Rapunzel has her own ideas about life which don’t quite fit the mould. Will Rapunzel escape the tower and the witch and live happily ever after, or will she be trapped forever?

With a sprinkling of Christmas magic and some help from the children in the audience, let’s hope there will be a happy ending. Runs until December 28.
