Come to the pumpkin and apple gala

editorial image

Hundreds of fantastically decorated pumpkins, squashes and gourds will be on display at Luton Hoo Walled Garden’s sixth annual Pumpkin and Apple Gala next weekend.

Children across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire have let their imaginations run riot and the results are spectacular.

The exhibition – the largest in the country – also has lots of additional attractions.

Co-ordinator Charlotte Phillips said: “Butterfly World from St Albans are bringing all sorts of bugs and snails while the Bedfordshire Bat Group will offer an introduction to the county’s belfry dwellers. And the Greensand Trust are keen to share their enthusiasm for spiders.”

There will be a hog roast and farmers’ market and visitors will also be able to see a variety of demonstrations and displays.

The event takes place at 10am on Saturday, October 13. Tickets are £7 for adults, £3 for children and £5 for concessions.

All profits will go to the restoration of the Walled Garden.
