VIDEO: Self esteem fashion show success
And there are already plans for another one
Young Luton mum Adina Harkin watched her vision become reality on Friday night as the mammoth project The Fashion Show Live, that she has been working on for 12 months, wowed the crowds.
Beautiful models sashayed down the catwalk in colourful creations, and the audience cheered and applauded a team of more than 100 young volunteers who worked tirelessly to succeed.
The fashion show, which was held at Putteridge Bury, was the brainchild of 21-year-old Adina, who had a vision to create a catwalk show that would boost the self esteem of youngsters across Luton.
And the event has been hailed a resounding success.
"Everything went really well," said Adina. "Really smooth. People thought the models were professional models so we achieved our aim. The most important thing was to make sure people thought they were professional models, but actually they had really low self esteem and little confidence at the beginning."
Adina is hoping this show will be the first of many.
But for Adina, who fell pregnant with her son Dylan aged 16, the fashion show has proved that the sky is the limit.
She said: "For me a personal achievement was to realise that I can do anything, I can achieve anything I want."
