Pupils learn dangers of playing with fire

A play and workshop to deter youngsters from playing with fire is travelling around Luton's schools.

Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service and StopWatch Theatre Company is touring schools in the area with Arson About, a show adapted by Britian's best known educational playwright Mark Wheeller.

Schools are the buildings most at risk from arson and the play demonstrates how a bit of fun can easily escalate into tragedy.

Chief fire officer Paul Fuller said: "It involves children across the county. It works on a level the children can understand."

An interactive drama workshop follows the performance and gives students the chance to explore what arson means, the consequences to those caught up in a fire, and those convicted of causing it.

Firefighters are also on hand to answer questions and take part in the workshops.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
