Now homes for the elderly planned.

A company that wants to build a 268-space park-and-ride facility on Green Belt land has also lodged plans for sheltered accommodation on the same site.

The plans from developer Amalgamated Berkshire Holdings (ABH) for land in Luton Road, Cockernhoe, has so far attracted 80 letters of objection.

ABH has now also applied to build sheltered accommodation for 38 elderly people on the same piece of land, and the scheme is already meeting opposition.

So far 19 people have written to North Herts District Council to voice their objection to the housing scheme, which would also include a health and community centre.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
