A Luton soldier, who survived frontline duties in Iraq, has been killed on exercise in Germany.
Private Scott Mugridge, of Farley Hill, was the gunner on top of an army vehicle when it rolled over in an road accident on Monday, killing him and injuring seven other soldiers, according to his family.
The 20-year-old, of the Royal Anglian Battalion, had been in the army for three years - enlisting shortly before his 18th birthday.
He had only recently returned from the front line in Iraq.
But Private Mugridge's family said he thoroughly enjoyed army life and was dedicated to serving his country.
The army are organising a military funeral for the former South Luton High School student, in which soldiers will carry him in to the service.
It will be held at The Vale Crematorium, Butterfield Green Road, Luton, on Friday, April 25 at 10.45am.
The service will be followed by a reception at the Stopsley Working Men's Club.
