Hooded youths injure 62-year-old

A 62-year-old man was left with minor injuries after he was assaulted and mugged by a gang of hooded teenagers in Luton.

The victim was walking along Barton Road, close to Turnpike Drive, at around 7.30pm on Sunday, June 28, when he was approached by five youths.

They searched his pockets and left the scene with a mobile phone, a wallet, keys and cash.

The gang were all white, aged between 15 and 16 and wearing hooded tops. It is also thought that one of the offenders had a bicycle.

Det Con Jon Wheeler said: "The victim has a small cut to his shoulder and grazing to his hands which were caused during the incident.

"We know that this was a sunny summer's day and I hope that anyone who was out enjoying the good weather may have noticed a group of youths matching this description and will be able to identify those responsible for this cowardly crime."

Anyone with information relating to this incident should contact Det Con Wheeler by calling 01234 841212, sending a text message to 07786 200011, or by contacting Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
