Street Athletics comes to town

Budding athletes can meet Olympic champions Linford Christie and Darren Campbell in Marsh Farm today (July 23).

The gold medallists are coming to Fitzwarin Close with their project Street Athletics, a community project for youngsters under the age of 20.

Young runners can take part in the 60m sprint races, organised by Linford and Darren from 2pm until 4pm.

Registration is from 1pm and 2pm, and all participants will receive a Street Athletics T-shirt and dog tag.

The top three boys and girls from each age group will go on to compete against youngsters from 10 other cities across the country at the Street Athletics National Final in Manchester on September 26.

And if you are more of a singer than a sports fan, Britain's Got Talent series one finalists The Kombat Breakers will be searching for the town's best music and dance talent while the races are happening.

All acts are welcome, with prizes on offer from Sony for the best performers and the opportunity to perform at the Street Athletics Finals.

For more information visit www.streetathletics.co.uk or call Nicole Macdermott at Nuff Respect on 0208 8914145.
