Uniform officers and community support officers have been carrying out high-visibility patrols all week in the Farley Hill area of Luton.

The initiative began on Saturday and Sunday with Operation Dedicate, aimed at nuisance motorcycles.

In addition specialist drugs dogs have been deployed and officers are executing 'Failure to Appear' and drug warrants for arrest.

The mobile police station and burglary reduction Ad-van have been out and about and there have also been speed patrols and automatic number plate recognition checks.

The police's Luton South Safer Neighbourhood Team is supporting Luton Borough Council's SoLuTiOns project. This is designed to tackle a number of issues ranging from noise abatement to drug problems and burglary reduction.

The team's Sergeant, Michelle Moore, said: 'So far it's proving a very productive week with several high profile operations running alongside our more community-based work.

'This includes an environment action day, assisting at the Farley play scheme and door knocking residents to chat to them about what issues they have.

'SoLUTiONs is a very effective way of blitzing an area and Farley Hill will really benefit from this week's activities. I really hope the residents come out and join in the fun as well as see the results from all the operational and enforcement tactics we are using.'
