Regulars at The Unicorn Pub in Lewsey Farm are holding a fundraising weekend to raise much-needed cash for two young girls with life-threatening genetic conditions.
Little Molly Witts, aged three, suffers with Crouzon Syndrome, in which the flat plates of bones which form her skull fuse together early in life, distorting the shape of the head.
And teenager Robyn Martin is awaiting genetic testing for Marfan Syndrome, a condition that can lead to blindness, spinal curvature, lung disease and sudden death.
Both girls are the focus of a mammoth fundraising venture at the Luton pub.
It is hoped the money will fund a new £450 pushchair for Molly, as the footplate on her current buggy is too short. A velcro back support would also be helpful for the brave child, who is bright and cheery despite having just recovered from major surgery to split her skull.
Any cash raised for Robyn will go to The Marfan Trust, which funds research in to the cause and possible prevention of Marfan Syndrome.
The bank holiday weekend festivities kick off on Friday, May 23, with a Back 2 Skool disco in the pub. Dressing up is compulsory, and tickets cost £3.
The following day, Saturday, May 24, a car boot sale will run in the pub car park from 10am until 3pm. Pitches cost £5. In the evening, a karaoke disco is sure to round up some rising singing stars - it will cost you to perform.
And on Sunday, May 25, a kids fun day will finish off the fundraising weekend with entry at £2.50 per child.
To book your tickets, or a car boot sale pitch, pop in to The Unicorn or call them on 01582 696674.
