Buses will replace some trains on the railway line between the Luton area and London this weekend. Also, as the massive Thameslink upgrade progresses, there will be no trains across the capital this weekend or late at night during next week. Train company First Capital Connect's tickets will be accepted for travel across central London on the Tube or, when the Tube isn't running on replacement buses.
The main thing to remember when catching a
First Capital Connect service from Luton into London between 7am and 7pm is to remember not to catch a train which is scheduled to stop at every station on route. If you do that, then the train will terminate at Kentish Town.
Trains which are fast in from St Albans will go to St Pancras International and terminate there. Fast trains to St Albans and Luton will leave out of St Pancras but trains which stop at stations in between will start at Kentish Town. Customers should use the Northern Line between St Pancras International and Kentish Town to connect with these stopping services.
From Monday January 12 to Friday January 16 no FCC trains will travel through central London between about 10.30pm and 4.30am. Trains will still run to/from London Bridge (from the south) and St Pancras International (from the north).
Customers requiring assistance should contact the First Capital Connect Special Assistance Helpline on 0800 058 2844 (Textphone: 0800 975 1052).
First Capital Connect has also announced that Thameslink route services will permanently stop running from Farringdon to Barbican and Moorgate on March 22 this year. From March 2 until late 2011, London Underground services will not call at Blackfriars Tube station.
March 2009 is also the date when walking routes through Blackfriars railway station change along with your route to the road bridge outside.
