The best of the action from Luton AC

Plenty of anglers took advantage of the warmer weather to fish on the Grand Union last weekend, with carp, many mid doubles, being caught on most sections.

The bream are also starting to show and fish of 3lb are commonplace along with quality roach.

Luton AC's new bailiffs have been very active with between three and four patrols a day. They have caught a number of non-members fishing after dark, as only Luton AC members may night fish and only on certain sections.

Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley, was very busy last weekend. Paul Kirkup caught a 24lb common carp, Mick Stringer registered a 25lb mirror carp in the week and night anglers have reported a number of fish around the 15lb mark.

On North House Lake, Wyboston, carp are still the main quarry with Mark Farrell leading the way with five in a night session. He scored a 24lb common, a 23lb 8oz mirror, two 17lb commons and a 15lb mirror.
Ivan Sayer caught a 20lb common and Nigel Gillard broke the club bream record with a 9lb specimen.

On the adjacent South Lagoon, Andy Smith caught a 15lb 2oz common, a 5lb tench and two bream over 5lb, Greg Smith landed zander at 10lb, 11oz and 9lb 13oz, while Will Holtum caught bream of 10lb 5oz, 10lb, 8lb and 7lb. Fishing in the next swim, Desmond Rafferty caught a 9lb bream and a 4lb bream, while Aaron Phillips had tench of 4lb 8oz and 4lbs.

The next work party takes place this Sunday at 9am, within the Wyboston Complex. Anyone interested should contact Ken Scott on 01582 619757.
There are three work parties remaining and if you attend all three your membership will be free for the forthcoming season.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
