500 mile trip to Lake District, and not a ball bowled for county's cricketers...

Bedfordshire made the 500-mile round trip to the Lake District on Sunday – just to watch it rain.

Their MCCA Trophy match against Cumberland at Kendal was eventually called off at 2.15pm without a ball being bowled.

And, although they have picked up only one point so far from their two scheduled games, Bedfordshire's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the competition are still very much alive.

Cheshire, who beat Shropshire in a shortened match on Sunday, are as good as through with four points already in the bag.

But two teams will qualify from each group and Oxfordshire, Shropshire and Cumberland also have one point.

This week Oxfordshire play Cheshire and Shropshire take on Cumberland, while Bedfordshire are without a fixture.

Their two remaining games are against Shropshire at Flitwick on May 18 and Oxfordshire at Challow on June 1.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
