Feighery steps down as Dunstable Town manager
Dunstable Town have been handed a further blow following the resignation of manager Darren Feighery.
The news comes just weeks after it was also announced that chairman Roger Dance had decided to quit as chairman of the Creasey Park club.
Feighery steps down having guided the BGB Southern League Division One Midlands outfit to back-to-back mid table finishes during his two seasons in charge, alongside triumphs in both the Beds Senior Cup and Beds Premier Cup in 2006/07.
Assistant boss Ken Gillard and physio John McLoughlin have also left the club.
Blues have moved quickly to find a replacement, with reserve team boss Lee Cowley being handed the role.
Speaking to the News/Gazette, the departing Feighery admitted he felt the time was right to go.
He said: "I just feel that I've taken the club as far as I can. Under the circumstances and given the budget and the facilities at Dunstable, we probably overachieved during the past two seasons.
"I think it's been a successful period but I don't feel that the infrastructure, the facilities or the finances are in place to take them any further.
"I'm ambitious, I'd like to get on and progress and I'm not sure that the environment is right at Dunstable for that to happen.
"But I'd like to think I've left them in a much better state then when I took over."
His replacement is former Luton Town youth team coach Cowley who, during his 15 years at Kenilworth Road, was influential in the development of the likes of Keith Keane, Leon Barnett, Kevin Foley and Ed Asafu-Adjaye.
