Competitive workout pleases Hatters boss

Cagey Hatters boss Mick Harford was pleased with his side's 1-1 draw again League One Leicester on Tuesday night but refused to talk about any of the triallists on show for the Hatters.

He said: "There were a few players who played this evening who I would like to be part of the future of Luton Town and who have committed to the club once we come out of administration."

On the game he said: "It was more than what we wanted. It was a strong Leicester side and it's a really competitive game as we wanted.

"The tackles are starting to fly in and people are using their bodies more than the first two or three games where it was more of a fitness exercise.

"I thought we started really well for the first 15-20 minutes, then we had a sticky patch where we Steve (Howard) hit the bar and in all fairness they could have gone ahead.

"We finished the half really well and were deserved leaders at half time."

However, he admitted the plethora of changes made for a disjointed second half.

Harford said: "It's difficult, they made changes and we made changes and it upset the continuity. When you are making changes wholesale it is a given."

On Matthew Spring's 30-yard wonder strike that gave Luton the lead, he said: "Spring does it not every day but sometimes in training – he has it in the bag. Technically he is a very good player."

And he also had praise for keeper Dean Brill who saved a Steve Howard penalty and Ed Asafu-Adjaye who played at centre-half.

He said:"Brill has probably seen Steve take numerous penalties down the years so has guessed where it is going. It's a great, great save, but that's what the keeper is there for, to get you out of trouble."

On Asafu-Adjaye, he added: "It's Ed's position, he is naturally a centre-half. It was difficult for him tonight because of big Steve. He plays with his heart on his sleeve and I am delighted with Ed and the way he is playing and holds himself."

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
