'We don't want it to cast a shadow over next season'
Hatters will be in the dock at the FA over financial irregularities on Tuesday, it has been confirmed.

At a preliminary hearing at Soho Square on Thursday, the club decided to revise their plea and admit 17 charges made against them.

More than 50 charges were originally made against the club and its associates relating to £160,000 in irregular payments and all those hearings are set to take place during the next six weeks.

The same commission rules over all the hearings, but it is not yet clear when its decisions will be made public.

Administrator Brendan Guilfoyle said: "We have made clear Luton's stance regarding the charges and asked the FA to resolve this issue. We don't want it casting a shadow over the club as it enters a new era."

An FA spokesman refused to be drawn on whether the Hatters could be handed a six-figure fine, as suggested in some areas of the
national media.

He said: "It will be for an independent regulatory commission to make the final decision as to whether or not the charges are proved and, if so, what the sanctions will be."
