Veteran striker leaves Southend

Former Hatter Paul Furlong has added another club to his lengthy CV after signing for Barnet.

The 40-year-old striker, who left Kenilworth Road last summer, could make his debut for the club in their League Two clash with Grimsby tomorrow.

Furlong, who moved to Southend after leaving the Hatters, has found his opportunities restricted but has a fan in Barnet boss Ian Hendon.

He said: "I have seen a lot of Paul and he brings the experience and know-how to the side that I want.

"I am very grateful to Southend manager Steve Tilson for his friendly gesture in facilitating the move."

However, Furlong will have to wait for a reunion with his old team mates as the Hattters do not visit Underhill until April 18.
