Town boss refuses to shirk responsibility for his disappointing record while at the helm
Town boss Mick Harford admitted that he was relieved Luton's catastrophic season was over after their 1-0 home defeat to Huddersfield.
Harford also revealed that if the price is right every player at Kenilworth Road is up for sale.
He said: "The whole of the squad is up for sale because that is how we are going to regenerate ourselves.
"It's a bit of closure for us now. We can sit down through the summer and re-group, try and build a new football club and try and regenerate the squad and try an get promotion at the first chance.
"Today was a game that passed us by. In terms of the bigger picture and the future of this football club it's far bigger than losing 1-0.
"We had enough possession throughout the game to win, but we seem to struggle at both ends.
"Someone makes a run into the box and gets a free header."
However, Harford was clear that Hatters' main deficiencies lie in the centre of defence.
He said: "I would probably go on record and say that if we had two centre halves at the club we would be halfway up the league."
Asked whether it was hard to motivate players he had told had no future at the club, he said: "They are professional players and know the situation at the football club. They are no stupid and know that this club is now at a cross-roads and this club needs to move forwards."
On his disappointing record as Luton boss, he said: "I will take the responsibility for the results. I'm man enough to stand here and say the results have not been good enough. It's on my record and I've got to stand by it.
"Judge me when I start to bring in new players and I've built a team I want."
"There is a salary cap (next season). We can only have 60 per cent of you turnover and that kills you. That is the black and white."
Harford though once again paid tribute to the fans who chanted his name throughout today's game.
He added: "I would like to say a big, big thank you to the supporters. They've been excellent. They deserve a successful team these fans."
