Havant Shield success
Luton Minis U9s finish as Shield runners-up
Luton RFC minis sent four sides to the Havant Festival with the U9s producing the performance of the day as they finished as runners-up in the Shield.
The U10s and U11s both reached their respective Plate finals, but the U8s could not progress from the group stages.
Luton's U9s advanced to the last four on the back of two victories and a draw in their group games. Trojans were beaten 10-0, before they were held to a 5-5 stalemate by Ivybridge. A 10-0 defeat of Havant Dolphins ensured Luton would progress to the semi-finals where they got the better of Redingensians by a similar margin.
Facing a strong Brighton outfit in the final, Luton battled hard but eventually went down 25-10.
Kai McArthur (2), Fraser Strachan (2), Lewis McCartney (4) and Harry Wright were all on the scoresheet for Luton.
Meanwhile, Harry Kingham and Hamza Khan notched two tries apiece for the U11s in their five games.
A 15-5 reverse against Trojans was followed by a 5-5 draw with New Milton and a 10-0 loss to Havant Dolphins.
Redingensians were downed 10-5 in the Plate semi-final, before Trojans completed a double over their Luton counterparts with a 10-0 victory in the final.
Joe Webb, Taylor Hagger (2), James Barry and Dean Yang got their names on the scoresheet for the U8s, but they could not prevent Luton from losing all of their three outings.
They went down 35-3 to Havant Dolphins, 20-5 to Basingstoke and 35-15 to Weybridge Vandals.
