Despite the wet weather, there was still plenty of cricket played at the weekend and, in the Saracens Herts League Division Two, Luton Town & Indians were held to a draw by Watford Town.

Town made 227-7 off their 43 overs, Nitin Parsooth leading the way with 71, Hemal Randerwala making 36, Prayag Katechia 35no Mohammed Haroon 24 and Divyesh Patel 24.

Watford made slow progress in reply, reaching 134-4 in 37 overs, Hitesh Patel recording figures of 8-0-32-2.

In Division Five, Town's second XI were dismissed for 175, Arshad Dalvi thumping 59, Mushtaq Dalvi 41 and Anil Shah 22.

Town IIIs' Division Nine match with Sandridge CC IIs was beaten by the rain, while Luton's fourth team drew with Bentley Heath CC IIs in Division Thirteen.

Kanav Sehgal hit 67, David Morgan Jnr 39 and Simon Shirley 20 as Luton reached 158-6 off 45 overs.

In a nervous finish both sides fell just short of victory, Bentley Heath CC IIs ending on 154-9, Chirag Sehgal recording figures of 11-4-28-3 and Kamal Patel 5-1-18-2.

For Dunstable, only the first team's Division One game with Knebworth Park survived.

Dunstable batted first and scored 198, Rob Keogh scoring 71 and Andy Boocock 39.

In reply, Knebworth reached 188-8 as the game ended in a draw.

Sam Cherry was the pick of Dunstable's bowlers with 4-45.

On Sunday, the rain had a greater impact on the fixtures, with Luton Town and Indians' Bedfordshire County League Premier Division match at Ampthill Town failing to beat the weather.

Town IIs went down by 54 runs to Potton Town in the Second Division.
Potton raced to 194-4 in 39 overs, while Luton were dismissed for just 140, despite Hitesh Chauhan's 48 and Jasjit Sobti's unbeaten 41.

The Fourth Division game between Potton Town and Luton IIs was cancelled due to rain.

Vauxhall Motors stay top of the Premier Division, 25 points ahead of Ickwell and Luton Town & Indians, who have dropped into third place, after a 64-run win against basement club Leighton Buzzard, thanks largely to all-rounder Mohammad Irshad.

Having won the toss, Motors batted first and made 184, with Zaheer Khan hammering three fours and two sixes on his way to 43 and Naeem Khan hitting two fours and three sixes in his 42, as the pair put on a partnership of 87 for the second wicket.

Motors only batted 31 overs but raced to a phenomenal 211-3.

Odedra hit 14 fours on his way to an undefeated 101 and he shared in a 179-run fourth wicket partnership with Masood Mahmood, who hit six fours in his 64 not out.

Dunstable, meanwhile, beat Biggleswade by six wickets in the Premier Division.

Put into bat, Biggleswade could only manage 169-8. Dunstable struggled in reply and were 29-4 at one stage.

However, they rallied and an unbeaten partnership of 141 by Steve Watts, 85 not out, and Geoff Baines, 55 not out, saw Dunstable home.

Their second team scored a crushing 165-run victory against Eggington Forresters in Division One.

Dunstable batted first and scored 286-8, Terry Carr out for 99, just one run short of his maiden century.

He was well supported by Matt Puffett who made 69.

In reply, Eggington were all out for 121, Tom Simpkins picking up four wickets and Stuart Harvey three.

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
