Neel shines for Team Switzerland

Neel Jani had cause to celebrate after clinching the A1GP title at Brands Hatch.

The Luton-based driver, who competes for Team Switzerland in the World Cup of Motorsport, claimed a fourth place finish in the morning's sprint race before going one place better in the afternoon's feature event.

The Swiss outfit won the title with a comfortable 40-point advantage over their nearest rivals New Zealand with Great Britain a point further back in third.

Jani won four races during the successful campaign, as well as registering 11 podium finishes, but felt that he could have won more.

He said: "In the end we have to say we only had four wins because there were so many races we led and something happened.

"I was sometimes frustrated but I'm really happy that it still ended well."

Jani will return for the new A1GP season in September although his ambitions stretch to the very top.

He added: "I hope to get a drive in Formula One for 2009, that's my goal.

"But this September the new A1GP series will start and I'm definitely going to be there because it doesn't clash with anything else."

Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
