Girls come out on top at the Bedford River Festival


Someries B came out on top in the girls beach football tournament at the Bedford River Festival at the weekend.

In the four team competition, Someries B headed the table with 16 points, five ahead of Someries A.

Newnham also entered two teams with their A team finishing in third place and their B team coming fourth.

The victors won five of their six games, with their only dropped points coming when they were held to a 1-1 draw by their A team.

In their opening game, Someries B beat Newnham A 4-2 and followed this with a narrow 2-1 defeat of Someries A.

Newnham B were then seen off 3-0 with Newnham A then going down 3-2.
Following the draw in the all-Someries clash, they wrapped up their winning campaign with a 3-0 defeat of Newnham B in their last outing.

Someries A won three of their six games, beating Newnham A twice and Newnham B once, and suffering one defeat at the hands of their school mates.
