Two schools from Luton took part in the East Regional Finals of the Asda Kwik Cricket competition at Mildenhall last week.

William Austin Junior School and Dallow Primary were two of 16 teams who were competing for a place in the national final at Leicestershire's Grace Road home.

Schools from across the region – Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Huntingdonshire, Norfolk and Suffolk – were split into four groups of four.

William Ransom (Hitchin), Little Green (Rickmansworth), Elmhurst Primary (Essex) and Beccles Middle School (Suffolk) advanced from the group stage to the last four where William Ransom and Elmhurst beat Little Green and Beccles respectively.

In the final, Elmhurst got the better of William Ransom to be crowned as east regional champions.

Over 12,000 primary schools entered the initial stages of the competition with the regional finals consisting of the best 120 schools from across the country.
