Young forward hopes there's plenty more goals to come

Lively loan striker Chris Martin was delighted to have finally bagged his first goal as a Hatter in Luton's 1-1 draw with Notts County on Saturday.

The Norwich City youngster has looked in good form so far this season, and, although he has not set himself an overall target, he knows what a striker should be aiming for.

Martin, 19, said: "As a striker, 20 goals is a good benchmark to set yourself."

On his goal he said: "I've been waiting for that since the first game.
"I thought I would have scored a couple more before. Hopefully it's the first of many. I bent it nicely into the corner."

From there he revealed that he thought the Hatters would win "comfortably", but sadly it wasn't to be.

And Martin had no doubts about joining Luton after being told he was unlikely to figure in Norwich's plans this season.

He said: "I wasn't surprised they let me out.

"I wasn't getting many games there which was a bit disappointing for me being my home town club.

"I like the drive and commitment the manager and the team show. It's nice to be involved in a team with such a good team spirit."

And he is happy to have the company of old friend and fellow Canary Michael Spillane at Kenilworth Road.

He said: "I've played with him since I was about 14. We are best friends pretty much at the club.

"It's nice to come down here with someone I know so well. I think we've put in some good performances and he has shown how good he could be."

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
