Angling round-up

Mirrors have been popular at Beckerings Reservoir this week.

Dan Stringer caught two at 13lb and 16lb, Phil Randle landed a 13lb specimen, Mick Stringer claimed an 18lb common and James Muncaster landed three to 16lb, while a few doubles fell to unnamed anglers.

Tony Sessions had a nice bag of roach and perch to about 1lb on the pole and other anglers have also been doing well with the roach on the float.

James Beardwell, who won the third prize in the Beds & Bucks Carping January photo competition in Carp-Talk magazine for one of his Beckerings commons, has kindly donated the Innovate S2t prize to the overnight carp match taking place on the same venue in June.

In addition JAG Products, who produce top quality stainless equipment, have pledged a brand new JAG Products 2 Rod Buzzbar and Bankstick set-up for the winner worth £140 and Fishing Wizard a bait package.

With only 12 places up for grabs on a first come first served basis a reserve list seems likely.

On the South Lagoon at the Wyboston Complex, James Bishop caught a nice 9lb 10oz zander.

There are two work parties fast approaching and the Fisheries Team at Luton AC have asked that as many people get involved as possible this year as there is lots of work to do.

Over 150 members volunteered last year with 30 members doing three work parties or more and a huge amount was completed at many of the club's venues.

For more details visit www.lutonac.org or contact Dave Edwards at the club office on 01582 728114 or Joanne Edwards on 01582 603466 and 07903048280.

Anyone taking part will save the £10 work party levy when renewing thier membership for next season.

The next work parties will be at the club's new Barretts Mere fishery on Saturday, February 20, and Sunday, February 21.

Phone or text your catch reports from Luton AC waters to 07704 462635 or email catchreports@lutonac.org.

Pictures taken on your phone, meanwhile, should be sent to 07876 331180.
