Former Luton Town boss Mike Newell has been appointed as manager at fellow League Two strugglers Grimsby Town.

Newell, who has been out of football since he left Kenilworth Road in March 2007, takes over a side lying 21st in the table with just three points from their first nine games.

He will also face his old club later this month when Luton visit Blundell Park on Tuesday, October 21.
