Berkhamsted thrash poor Dunstable Town

Luton Town & Indians enjoyed a successful weekend in the Saracens Herts League as all three of their teams claimed victory.

Nitin Parsooth was the star for Town in their Division Two clash with Preston as they strolled to a six-wicket win.

Parsooth took 2-46 in Preston's 166-8, Wakar Arif, 3-26 and Pradeep Jayanprakashdaran, 2-31, also getting in on the act before top-scoring with 57 as Town eased to 167-4 with overs to spare.

Jayanprakashdaran's excellent summer with the bat continued as he helped himself to an unbeaten 43 while Hitesh Patel weighed in with 33.

Town IIs got the better of Bayford & Hertford in Division Five, winning by 35 runs.

Adeel Khan, 45, and Manjit Singh, 34, were the main contributors as Town were bowled out for 169 in the 51st over.

In reply, N Burgess hit 58 for Bayford but it was not enough as Masood Mahmood, 3-29, and Singh, 2-11, helped Town bowl out the home side for 134.

Town IIIs scheduled Division Nine clash with Bragbury was abandoned after their opponents failed to raise a side, but it was a better day for the fourths who beat Baldock Town III by an emphatic seven-wicket margin.

Gurpreet Singh and Kamal Patel took three wickets apiece as Baldock were routed for 121, a score Town had no trouble in reaching.

David Morgan Jnr, Kanav Sehgal, Haroon Afridi and Singh all made it into the twenties as Town reached their target in just the 21st over.

Dunstable had a day to forget as they crashed to a comprehensive 150-run reverse at Berkhamsted in Division One.

Luke Cherry, 4-52, and Andy Watts, 3-62, reduced the hosts to 37-5 but they recovered to post 224-9.

In reply, Dunstable were never in the hunt and collapsed to a woeful 74 all out, Cherry the only batsman to make an impression with 22.

Dunstable IIs fared little better as they went down to Kings Langley by six wickets In Division Three.

Richard Blake hit 40 in Dunstable's under par 129, a total Kings reached for the loss of four wickets.

Despite racking up 211-6, Dunstable IIIs were beaten by Harpenden IVs in Division Seven.

Ross Daniels struck a well made 89 and Alan Carr took 6-58 but it was not enough to prevent Harpenden edging to victory at 212-8.

Dunstable IVs made sure the club registered one success as they beat Old Elizabethans IIs by 43 runs in Division Ten.

Paul Gilbert's 67 formed the backbone of Dunstable's 186-6 before Tom Byne, 4-34, and Simon George, 3-54, bowled the visitors out for 143.

Vauxhall Motors were denied the opportunity to bounce back to winning ways in the Bedfordshire County League Premier Division after their clash with Clifton was abandoned due to inclement weather.

It was a similar story at both Flitwick and Leighton Buzzard as the scheduled games with Luton Town & Indians and Dunstable respectively were also abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The same fate befell Dunstable IIs who were unable to get on to the pitch for their game against Sharnbrook in Division One.

In Division Two, Motors IIs managed to beat the rain and were rewarded with a narrow three-wicket victory against Kempston Hammers IIs.

Dipak Parsooth took 3-15 and Hitesh Modhwadia 2-21 as Kempston were dismissed for just 86.

Motors had their difficulties during their chase but managed to squeeze over the line at 90-7 thanks mainly to Bhoja Karavadra's 28.

Luton Town & Indians IIs encounter with Cople Argus was abandoned.
Town IIIs game against Caldecote IIs in Division Four failed to get underway due to the rain but Dunstable IIIs beat the showers to snatch a closely fought eight-run victory against Sandy.

Peter Treharne top-scored with 63 in Dunstable's 182 all out, a score that proved just beyond Sandy, who fell short despite the efforts of A Gidding who made a spirited 96.

Tom Simpkins did the damage for Dunstable, finishing with figures of 4-57.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
