County crown for Tilsworth youngster

Ryan Smith had reason to celebrate after clinching the Bedfordshire U12 Boys Championship.

The youngster, who plays his golf at Tilsworth GC, recorded a 12-over-par tally of 82 at Wyboston Lakes to win on countback from Stockwood Park's Ryan Hodges.

Twenty-two handicapper Smith covered the front nine in 40 shots before adding 42 shots to his score over the closing nine holes to snatch victory.

John O'Gaunt's Jack Slater made up the top three, one shot behind the leading pair, while Leighton Buzzard's Richard Hill finished fourth after a round of 87.

Aylesbury Vale's Bradley Finch, meanwhile, made up the top five a shot further back on 88.
