Luton Town & Indians secure a double success

Wajid Sohail starred for Luton Pakistanis in their eight-wicket defeat of AKCC in the Luton & District Midweek League Premier Division.

Sohail, 51 not out, and Shahid Saddique, 32 not out, led the Pakistanis to 115-2 in reply to AK's score of 114-5.

Sohail, 2-31 and Rahim Azim, 2-34, were the pick of the Pakistanis' attack as AK were kept down to a manageable total.

In Division One, Luton & Houghton Town got the better of Pakistani Crescent by four wickets.

Crescent were bowled out for 104 before Houghton reached their target with four overs to spare.

The pick of the games in Division Two saw Saracens record a 21-run victory against Elite CC.

Ajab Khan top-scored with 47 as Saracens rattled up 156-6, a score that proved beyond Elite who finished on 135-9.

Luton Hatters edged past Luton Sixth Form, winning by two wickets in a low-scoring affair.

The students could only muster up 84, but the Hatters made hard work of their chase, crossing the line with two wickets and three overs in hand.

Pradeep Jayanprakashdaran had a productive weekend as Luton Town & Indians recorded victories on both days of the weekend.

On Saturday, Jayanprakashdaran struck an unbeaten 91 as Town beat Ampthill by four wickets in Saracens Herts League Division Two, and the following day, the prolific batsman made 73 as Clifton were downed by four wickets in the Beds County League Premier Division.

On Saturday, Town II and IV recorded victories against Leverstock Green II and Parkfield & Headstone III in Divisions Five and Thirteen respectively, but Town III were beaten by Offley & Stopsley in Division Nine.

In Division Four of the Beds County league, Town III narrowly lost to Clifton II.

Dunstable Town secured a winning draw against St Albans in Saracens Herts League Division One, Rob Keogh the star performer with 66, while Sam Cherry and Steve Watts took four wickets apiece.

Dunstable II drew with Cavendish in Division Five, but their third team were knocked off the top spot in Division Seven as they lost to Reed II.
Meanwhile, Dunstable IV went down to Kings Langley in the Division Ten relegation battle.

Vauxhall Motors suffered their first defeat of the season as they went down to Ickwell in a high-scoring Beds County League Premier Division clash.

Motors II made up for the first team's reverse as they got the better of their Ickwell counterparts.

Luton & Houghton Town maintained their lead at the top of the North Herts League Division One after a thumping 186-run defeat of Breachwood Green.

The star of the show was Bob Ahmed who hammered a boundary-laden undefeated 195 that included a dozen sixes and 22 boundaries in Houghton's massive 366-4.

In reply, Breachwood were never in the hunt and were bowled out for 180. The victory extends Houghton's unbeaten run to 18 games.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
