Football League ratify eight new signings ahead of Saturday's big kick-off

Luton Town have confirmed eight new signings ahead of tomorrow afternoon's League Two opener with Port Vale.

The most notable is the welcome return of captain Kevin Nicholls from Preston North End, while as expected, the anticipated signings of right-back Claude Gnapka (Peterborough United), centre-back George Pilkington (Port Vale) and midfielder Asa Hall (Birmingham City) have now been ratified by the Football League.

Also putting pen to paper at Kenilworth Road are centre-half Ian Roper (Walsall), ex-Norwich City midfielder Rossi Jarvis, while another young Canaries player, striker Chris Martin, has joined on a season-long loan.

Teenage striker Tristan Plummer has also joined on a month's loan from Bristol City.

Delighted Hatters boss Mick Harford said: "Many of the players have featured in my plans for some time so they have had a few weeks to get know each other and work in training together.

"Every single player will be proud to put on the Luton shirt and that is the spirit we need. Nico (Kevin Nicholls) was a huge boost, although many fans knew that he had been a priority target for us for quite some time.

"I've now been able to add quality players to the team and, I can tell you, the dressing room is buzzing. We can't wait for Saturday."

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
