Orange change kit is set to become Hatters' third option

Hatters are set to unveil a new change kit next season as they bid to bounce straight back from Coca-Cola League Two.

Town are currently keeping the colour and design of the strip a closely-guarded secret but are confident it will be a big hit with supporters.

Gary Sweet, a director of the LTFC2020 consortium poised to take over the running of Luton Town, revealed that a small team had been working on the project and that this season's orange away kit would become next term's third choice.

He said: "There will be a new away kit and sponsors we are working hard on. We are pressing on with potential ones.

"There's a couple of little tweaks to do. We would have liked to have got to do a fans' vote but we haven't had the time."

Sweet is confident the new strip will be a big hit with supporters, but remained tight-lipped.

Recent variations have included an all black shirt, an unpopular yellow top and a peach and purple stripes design, harking back to some of the earliest days in Luton's history.

During the 1980s the Hatters traditionally played in a change kit of dark blue – a choice that is likely to be popular with many of the fans.
Sweet was also confident that the Luton legends game against an Arsenal pro-celebrity team on May 10, to mark the 20th anniversary of Hatters' Littlewoods Cup victory, would be a big success.

He revealed that around 2,000 tickets for the event had already been sold and urged people not to wait to buy theirs.

He said: "We have nearly sold out the boxes and the Eric Morecambe suite is nearly full.

"Arsenal are keen to promote it. It's going in their programme and website and going on a direct mail to their supporters clubs.

"There is the possibility that they could bring quite a few thousand, especially on behalf of Rocky (Arsenal legend David Rocastle, who died of cancer, aged 33, in March 2001)."

However, there is currently no end in sight to Town's current administration. Having submitted their application to the Football League for the return of their golden share they are still waiting on a response.

This means the club have not yet been able to announce ticket prices for next season, although they will send out details by the end of May at the latest.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
