The search for young stars is on!
Dunstable’s Grove Theatre and Magic Beans Pantomimes are looking for eight talented boys and girls – four of each – to play the principal roles of the babes in Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood.
This is a great opportunity for young local talent to get their foot in the door to start their careers in the exciting world of theatre.
Magic Beans are holding open auditions on Saturday (September 6) from 9am to 11am for young performers aged between six and 11 to try out for the roles of Arthur and Eleanor.
Anyone interested should prepare a short song – preferably in musical theatre style – and bring sheet music (no backing tracks) with them.
Everyone will be asked to sing and learn a short dance routine.
Successful performers will be cast in teams of two and will alternate in the roles throughout the run of the pantomime from December 12 until January 4.
They will be appearing alongside famous names like Alan Fletcher – Neighbours’ Dr Karl Kennedy; Steve Hewlett – Anna Kumble – aka 1990s pop star Lolly; Britain’s Got Talent ventriloquist; and Andy Abrahams from the X Factor.
Magic Beans are also looking for local dancers and two stars to play the roles of Robin Hood and love interest Maid Marian – but more about that in your News/Gazette next week.
Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood is an enchanting and much-loved folk story that tells the tale of an evil sheriff and our hero – in tights.
The wicked Sheriff of Nottingham is spreading misery throughout Sherwood Forest by placing astronomical taxes on residents – all part of his cunning scheme to lift the crown of England.
What Sherwood Forest needs is someone to save them. Someone strong, good with a bow and who looks great in forest greem – will new man-about-the-woods Robin Hood, come up to the mark?
It’s a story that’s got something for everyone and even has a happy ending.
