A man’s body has been recovered after a suspected suicide at the Mall central car park this morning.

Police were alerted at 7.30am to reports of concern for a person’s welfare.

A body was found soon after.

A spokesperson for The Mall told us: “Regrettably, we can confirm that there was a suspected suicide at the central car park of The Mall Luton this morning and that an individual was fatally injured.

“The matter is in the hands of the emergency services and our immediate thoughts are with the family and friends of the person concerned.”

Silver Street is currently taped off by police.

A Beds Police spokesperson added: “We were called at approximately 7.30am this morning to reports of concern for the welfare of a person at the Mall car park in Silver Street, Luton.

“The car park is currently closed while emergency services deal with the situation.”
UPDATE: The Mall car park has now reopened following today’s incident. The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
