Supermarket grocery assistant Patrick Hoare of Kirby Drive in Luton is retiring on medical advice - but you get the distinct impression if it was up to him, he’d still be reporting for duty three times a week.
He told our sister paper the Luton News that it was work that kept him going.
“I’m hyperactive,” he explained. “I’ve always got to be doing something.”
He’s loved every minute at the Bramingham branch – a job he applied for after retiring.
The former baker from Athy in County Kildare said: “Sainsbury’s have always treated me well and everyone is so kind.”
Store manager Glen Sharp told the Herald&Post: “Patrick is an inspiration to us all – he’s always got a smile on his face.
“He’s great with customers and colleagues and is a real character.
“He’s going to be missed.”
