‘Inevitable’ redundancies at Comet

The Comet store in Luton’s Gypsy Lane Retail Park is holding a massive stock liquidation sale instore prior to closing.

It is one of 27 outlets country-wide which have been directly affected by the financial crisis at the electrical giant.

A spokeswoman for administrators Deloitte said yesterday: “There have been no redundancies at Comet stores to date. However 41 stores may have to close between now and the end of November . . . there will inevitably be redundancies among the 869 full-time and part-time employees.”
