A LUTON man who claims he didn’t appreciate beating cancer when he was a schoolboy is making up for lost time.
John Ryan, 38, of Hollybush Road, was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma as a teenager at Cardinal Newman School.
Last year he took part in a marathon in aid of Foyle Hospice in Derry and he intends doing the same again this year, kicking off with a fundraiser at St Joseph’s Parish Centre in Gardenia Avenue, Luton, at 8pm on Friday, February 24.
“I decided I’d been given a gift and I wasn’t going to waste it so I took up running,” he explained.
Tickets for the event featuring Irish band Kell cost £7 each from St Joseph’s or 07875 116423.
