Cancer clinic vandals are 'lowest of the low'

Brickhill studio targeted by yobs

A laser treatment centre that helps cancer and alopecia patients has become the latest victim of Brickhill vandals.

Haircare Studio, in Brickhill Drive, had to fork out 400 for repairs after yobs broke down the wall outside the centre and used the bricks to smash the front window.

It is believed the vandals struck overnight on Wednesday (October 28).

Ben Fletcher, who owns the private clinic said: "Vandalism is terrible but vandalising a cancer clinic, that is the lowest of the low, just horrible."

Haircare Studio provides laser and hair integration therapies for people suffering from all kinds of hair loss.

But it is their work with cancer and alopecia patients from the age of eight to 81 that Mr Fletcher believes makes the most difference.

He said: "Having cancer is bad enough but for many people losing their hair is the final straw.

"We change peoples' lives here, suicidal people who won't leave the house.

"The worst thing about coming in to find the damage on Thursday is that we were getting ready to treat a new client, this is a very sensitive subject for many people and we want our clients to feel comfortable."

Deputy Mayor Charles Royden, who is councillor for Brickhill said: "It's really tragic that he has suffered from this kind of mindless violence and we hope that anyone who knows anything about this will come forward and the culprits will be apprehended.

"Incidents like this in Brickhill are not as common as they used to be and we are working to eliminate things like this from our community."

The Times & Citizen reported last week how vandalism in unmaintained garages in Brickhill had prompted Mayor Dave Hodgson to compare parts of the area to Beirut.
